NWA Anarchy TV Report by Ca$hFlowX
Episode 146
December 1, 2008

WRESTLING: (n.) \’res-ling\ A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.
ANARCHY: (n.) \an-ar-key\ (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of authority. (2) A complete lack of order.
What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!

- Welcome to NWA Anarchy, this is PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING~! Last week on NWA Anarchy TV, Truitt Fields successfully defended the NWA Anarchy TV Title against Chris Mayne. The match was abruptly interrupted by Dan Wilson who led a dressed up Shaun Tempers to the announcer’s booth to provide commentary. Afterwards, Tempers commandeered the title and handed it to Fields. Kimo savagely destroyed Slim J and nearly ended his career when Jerry Palmer made the save. In the opening sequence, Adrian Hawkins made a rookie heel mistake by not kicking Slim J when he was down. Also, Chad Parham admitted that Jeremy Vain & Mr. Rob Adonis had the inside track on the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Champions New Wave. Lo and behold, Jeremy Vain is scheduled tonight to face Derrick Driver. Also, Azreal takes on Chip Day. Actually, Chip Day is this week’s blessed scapegoat.

- Two weeks ago on NWA Anarchy TV, Mikael Judas accidentally sprayed Shadow Jackson’s eyes with his toxic green mist. This led to the Devil’s Rejects defeating the technico contingent and subsequent attack cementing them as Anarchy’s only freaks by stripping off Judas’ face paint.

1. “The Ring Veteran” Adrian Hawkins pinned “My Parents Named Me” TK “Because I Come from a Long List of Illiterates” Kross.
It’s great to see Wes Grissom back in the ring refereeing. Hawkins controlled the middle portions of the contest by dazzling Kross with his professional wrestling ability and total disdain of the rules. After commercial, Hawkins hoses down a fiery Kross comeback by hiptossing him to the arena floor. After a sickening thud that would even force Jeff G. Bailey to crack a smile, Hawkins rolls the dead weight back in the ring for the easy pinfall victory. Good showing by Kross.

2. “Total Domination” Mr. Rob Adonis w/Jeremy “I Need a Firmer Pillow for Christmas Vain vs. Derrick Driver w/Steven Walters.
Hunter calls the Vain the ultimate con man. Johnson inquires how he knows. Hunter replies, “I sit by one every week.” Character assassination is awesome when directed towards heel color commentators. Johnson goes on a rant accusing Hunter of being an instigator of every rift that exists in NWA Anarchy. John, don’t forget, you sent the rift between these two tag teams, albeit awesome backstage interview. Driver glazes Mr. Adonis with several kicks. Mr. Adonis tires of Driver’s shenanigans and backflips him on a kick attempt. Mr. Adonis focuses his attack on Driver’s back by applying a bearhug and delivering several suplex/slam variations. Driver eventually escapes a backbreaker with a Shining Wizard. He lands a flying bodypress, but Vain hops on the apron. Walters heads over in nick of time to allow his tag partner a two count. The match ends when Mr. Adonis easily overpowers a diving Driver with the A-Plex. Afterwards, Vain launches a premeditated assault on Walters and easily repels him until Mr. Adonis delivers the A-Plex. Just think, Mr. Adonis accomplished in 15 seconds what every other major tag team in NWA Anarchy couldn’t do, including the NWA Elite, handily defeating the New Wave. Vain selfishly snatches the tag straps before unceremoniously dropping them on the tag champs.

- “The Featureless Presentation” Jeff Lewis has finally returned to the NWA Arena and he actually agrees that his lifestyle is completely different from “Merciless” Don Matthews. Lewis loves his Lawrence Welk music, caviar, et cetera, et cetera in a cashmere sweater. Lewis decides he wants to bury the hatchet by inviting Matthews out. Lewis banters about lifestyle choices until he insults Matthews: Jay Clinton is ten times a better wrestler than Matthews. Wow, that hurts. Don Matthews is an illiterate hillbilly. That’s low. Lewis entices Matthews just long enough to allow a Jay Clinton distraction. Clinton devours the Lariat of Doom and allows Lewis to clobber the Merciless One with a baton. Lewis pours salt into wound by clotheslining Matthews with the baton. Clinton performs his best Jeff Jarrett impersonation over a knocked out Matthews. What a scumbag.

3. “Son of Satan” Azreal w/”the Dragon” Dan Wilson & the Staff of Righteousness pinned “Do or Die” Chip Day.
Personally, I wouldn’t wrestle a Devil’s Reject with a nickname with the word “die” in it especially when your opponent applies maneuvers with the phrase throat slit or named after serial killers. Azreal delivers an insanely brutal beatdown upon Day including a thunderous chop. Day fights back with a roundhouse kick, but Azreal is too much and dispatches of inferior competition with a flying knee attack. OUCH~! Afterwards, Azreal amounts additional punishment to Day while the almighty Reverend preaches to the congregation. Wilson reminds everyone the only things that go bump in the night in NWA Anarchy are the Devil’s Rejects after they exposed the fable Mikael Adryan. Of course, this was all to sucker out Mikael Judas into a trap. Azreal and NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion Iceberg brutalize Judas. The Rejects pancake Judas with a double Ground Xero splash. As they prepare to deliver a second GXS Special, Shadow Jackson makes the save. Judas comes back to life and joins forces with Shadow to counteract the forces of evil. Judas delivers a double chokeslam to two members of the Society of Future Enhancement Talent for having the audacity to break up the melee! Idiots! All four men continue to brawl. Shadowmania erupts as the locker room empties and we go to fade. What a great way to end heading into Fright Night 2008.

COMMENTS: There was a good mix of flashback segments, wrestling and storyline building heading into Fright Night 2008.

NWA Prime Time
December 26, 2008
PTPW Arena
Columbus, GA

The Exotic Ones made their debut in fabulous costumes, make-up and wigs. It turned out to be the same members of the Brits that were released by PTPW a week before making their return under a different name. Bull Buchanan faced the 3 of them in a handicap match and came out the winner in a great match.

Husband & Wife Tag Team, Micah & Tracy Taylor were the winners over Genni Right & Josh Stone.

Johnny Swinger & Zero Tolerance were the winners over David Young & Chris Stevens with the help of a referee not hired by the Promotion. Bad Company agreed that it did not matter who the referee was and it ultimately cost them the match.

Marty Jannetty was not able to wrestle Travis Sawyer because of injuries suffered the week before, but was attacked by Sawyer anyway and was saved by Deathrow. Jannetty & Deathrow will be tag partners next week against Sawyer & Mr. Hughes.

Words cannot describe the hangman's noose cage match between Bulldog Raines & Colt Derringer. It was a blood bath and Bulldog Raines was the winner, but suffered several bad cuts from the cage.

Iceberg retained the PTPW Heavyweight title by defeating Deathrow in a steel cage match. Again, there was lots of action between these 2 giants and many cuts that brought blood.

NWA Main Event by Larry Goodman
Airing December 6, 2008 in Nashville on ION
Taped December 2, 2008 in Nashville at the Nick Gulas Sports Arena

Opening with a rundown of the card for the Fairgrounds show on December 9 with Shane Smalls defending the TV Title against Chris Cain in the main event…and coming to the Fairgrounds on Christmas Night – Christmas Chaos ’08.

Jason James and Tyler Clemmons (yes!) on commentary.

1 -- NWA Mid America X Division Champion AIDEN SCOTT vs. SHAWN SHULTZ

The whole thing was one long promo by Shultz, none of which could be heard on television. For the punchline, Shultz turned his back on Scott and gave him the count of three to get out of his ring. Scott schoolboyed Shultz for the pin. Clemmons, the shameless Shultz fanboy that he is, claimed Scott used tights.

Winner: Scott in 3:50. What a waste to do an angle with a great mic worker like Shultz and not be able to hear a word he’s saying.

DURING THE BREAK…Shultz approached Deputy Commissioner Gordon. Shultz said he was former champion and begged him for a rematch against Scott. Gordon turned him down. Shultz offered to clean the entire arena with a toothbrush if he didn’t win. Gordon accepted.

2 – “The Internet’s Favorite Wrestling” WHITE TIGER vs. “Internet’s Favorite Wrestling #2” LARRY COOTER

Tiger scored several quick pins in the opening minute. Cooter poked Tiger in the eyes to take over. Cooter hit a gutwrench shoulder breaker and worked the body part. Cooter countered a spinning headscissors with a sidewalk slam. Tiger rolled away from three straight elbow drops. Not much of comeback for Tiger except a strange looking springboard crossbody spot. Cooter got the pin with a modified ultra-safe Death Valley Driver.

Winner: Cooter in 4:10. Louie Spicolli must have been rolling in his grave when James called that Cooter’s finisher a Death Valley Driver. It’s interesting about Tiger. As bad as most of stuff his stuff looks, every once in a while he hits something right on the money.

Steve-O was in the locker room with Scott and refs Jamie Ferrari and Josh Randall. O was talking about how Scott Hayes had gotten a big head and he was sorry he ever brought him into NWA Main Event. Scott said he didn’t see any change in Hayes and wondered what his problem was.

3 – BRYAN CASEY (with Charmin’ Charles) vs. BIG BULLY DOUGLAS

Joined in progress with Douglas working on Casey’s arm. They botched a lariat over the top spot. Charles used his cane on Bully. “Did you see that?” said James. We didn’t. Casey worked on Bully’s neck. Charles interfered. Bully hulked up and overpowered Casey on the comeback. Bully speared Casey. Clemmons called the spear the most devastating move in wrestling. The ref was being distracted by Charles and didn’t see Douglas making the pin. Douglas threatened to hit Charles. Time stood still before Charles swung at Bully with his cane. Douglas ducked but Casey was waiting for him with the Rude Awakening neckbreaker. We didn’t see that either.

Winner: Douglas in around 10 minutes. This match had problems. For starters, there’s something unnatural about Bully as a babyface. He looks bulked up but with less mobility. At this stage, Casey displays neither the arrogance nor the nastiness for his role. Then, you had the camera guy missing two of the three key spots in the match and the lousy finishing sequence with Charles. Otherwise, it was OK.

Steve-O was talking to himself as he admired Hayes’ NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Championship belt. O again said he regretted bringing Hayes into Nashville. Hayes walked in on him. Hayes said Tennessee Homecoming was the biggest night of his life. O mentioned that Hayes won the title, the battle royal and the money. Hayes apologized for pinning O in the battle royal. O reminded Hayes that as champion, he was the hunted. O reassured Hayes that he would have his back.

4 – STEVE-O vs. “Colossal” CHRIS CAIN

The commentators brought up O’s bald spot and Cain’s runt ranger stature. Clemmons said the contract problems that prevented him from working the tapings in LaVergne had been resolved. That must be some contract. They also talked about it being Gypsy Joe’s 75th birthday. Cain was taking a beating so he went to the outside. O tossed Cain back inside and got caught with a basement dropkick to the ribs as he slid back in. O kicked out of a slew of pin attempts. Cain’s frustration mounted. O sparked a comeback with a flying forearm. Cain kicked out of his neckbreaker combo. O went for the Gibson roll and Cain pinned him using the ropes.

Winner: Cain in 6:50. Nothing special about the wrestling. The story was the continuation of O’s losing streak. Having the babyface get outsmarted is usually a problem. However, it worked fine here since O is starting a heel turn. The commentary was entertaining but not exactly flattering to the talent. Why joke about a guy being 4-11 when he’s main eventing at the house show?

5 – NWA Mid-America X Division Champion AIDEN SCOTT vs. SHAWN SHULTZ

Shultz was beating on Scott for the entire match to where Scott was unable to stand up under his own power. Shultz was again done in by his overconfidence when Scott scored a flash pin with an inside cradle.

Winner: Scott in 4:17. Predictable is OK when it involves Shultz.

We see Shultz attempting to slip out of the Nick Gulas Arena undetected, but he was confronted by Gordon brandishing a toothbrush.

6 – Mid America Television Title Match: Champion “Magnum” SHANE SMALL vs. BYRON WILCOTT (with ?)

JIP at approximately 10 minutes in with Smalls chasing after Wilcott’s valet and getting his head taken off by Wilcott’s knockout lariat. Smalls barely sold it before launching a relentless assault on Wilcott’s knee. Clemmons noted Smalls’ surprising recuperative powers. Along the way, Wilcott busted out a bridging double underhook suplex. Smalls missed the moonsault that rarely connects. Wilcott tried for his finisher, but Smalls countered with a Last Rites for the pin.

Winner: Smalls retains in around 15 minutes. Another dose of Smalls’ frenetic work rate. Wilcott has good size and he hit a couple of cool moves. That lariat was the best one I’ve seen on Nashville wrestling in forever. I don’t know about him being WWE material though.

7 – NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Title Match: Champion “Playboy” SCOTT HAYES vs. JEFF “The Crippler” DANIELS (with Dominique)

JIP at roughly 7 minutes in with Daniels in control but unable to overcome Hayes’ resiliency. There was a hilarious spot where Daniels dumped Hayes and Dominque put him in the Kokina Clutch. Hayes hit a springboard back elbow. Both men down. They traded big right hands. Ref Jamie Ferrari got bumped on a Hayes’ body slam. Dominique jumped on Hayes. Daniels went to hit Hayes and clobbered Dominique by mistake. Steve-0 hit the ring and smoked Daniels with a superkick, but Ferrari saw him and DQed Hayes.

Winner: Daniels via DQ in 11 minutes. Hayes retained the title. I liked the finish of this match. For once, a referee saw something out of the corner of his eye.

Promo by a livid Jeff Daniels saying he was the victim of theft. Daniels accused Hayes of having Steve-O run in to save his title. Daniels issued a challenge for a tag match so he could keep an eye on Steve-O. Daniels said after he took care of O, he was coming for his title.

Hayes said he had things under control until Steve-O got involved. Hayes said O cost him the match but they were friends, and he was accepting Daniels’ challenge to a tag match.

The show closed with a brief vignette showing Shultz cleaning the bleachers with a toothbrush. As Cain and Smalls walked by, Cain purposely dropped food on the floor. “Everybody knows Shawn Shultz missed a spot.”

Random Thoughts: This was the start of a three week push for the Christmas Chaos show. It was a major improvement over any of the stuff they taped in LaVergne. They’ve finally got some stories cooking. It felt like creative had been saving stuff up. The thing with Shultz was fun. They badly need talent of his caliber added into the mix...I like the handling of O’s turn except him talking to himself (and the camera) in the second vignette. He just said the same thing in the first segment, so why not get the message across with body language and facial expressions?…The wrestling was better as well. There were parts of Smalls/Wilcott that were really good. Hayes selling was another strong point…The darkened arena with the only light coming from directly above the ring took me back to my childhood and the TVs taped for Dick the Bruiser’s promotion in Indianapolis with Chuck Marlowe on commentary. It’s a look I like for TV, but most casual fans probably won’t care for it at all. They were back to only a one camera shoot, and it was lousy camera work at that. The lack of audio from the ring mic has never been more of problem than it was during Shultz’s monologue. I was amazed that they aired the entire thing (over 3 minutes)…Daniels’ delivered an excellent promo as usual, but he kind of babyfaced himself with the challenge…They’re both heels and they didn’t push their match during the show, but it was still weird to see Cain and Smalls, the two guys opposing each other in next week’s main event, acting like good buddies in the show closing vignette.
