National Wrestling Superstars results from 10/9 in Manville, NJ featuring Val Venis, Sunny & Dawn Marie

National Wrestling Superstars returned to its favorite central Jersey venue, the Manville, NJ VFW Hall, on Saturday night October 9th. Although the crowd was one of the lightest Manville turnouts in recent memory (and keep in mind that as Manville is usually packed to the rafters, a "light" crowd is still pretty good), the usual high energy of NWS fans more than made up for the numbers as they witnessed another solid show.

Before the opening contest, NWS ring announcer Johnny Falco introduced WSU ring announcer Destiny as his co-host for the evening.

In the opening contest, a triple-threat match, Ring Of Honor TV star Rhett "The Threat" Titus defeated former WWE devlopmental star Pat Buck and Corvis Fear. Early on, Titus and Buck allied together to double-team Corvis, but Buck became greedy over wanting to be the one to get the victory and turned on Titus, and started allying with Corvis. However, the same greed to be the winner forced Buck and Corvis to turn on each other, allowing Titus to survive the onslaught. After Corvis put down Buck with a reverse overhead suplex, Titus leveled Corvis with a knee whip and got the 1-2-3.

Former WWE & ECW divas Dawn Marie and Sunny came to the ring for their "Don't Dis' The Diva" segment. They first expelled Destiny from the ring for not being in their league, and then started talking about each other friendly enough, but the remarks soon started getting much less friendly as each claimed to be the favorite diva of the fans and of the WWE. They were about to get downright angry when they were interrupted by a "Hello Ladies!" as former WWE star Val Venis came out to the ring. He told both ladies that after he beat his opponent tonight, he would decide himself which diva was better and worthy of the privilege of a dinner date with The Big Valbowski. Val's scheduled opponent for later, Danny Inferno, came out and objected to the "when he beat his opponent" part, and said that he would emerge triumphant, he would be the one choosing a diva for the evening. This did not stop Sunny and Dawn Marie from continuing to exchange shoves and angry looks all the way to the back.

In the second match of the night Judas Young defeated Rich "Ice Pick" Lowinski. The area fan-favorite Ice Pick proved surprisingly tough opposition for the veteran Judas. After Ice Pick hit a bulldog and flying splash on Judas, he appeared to have the upset victory in hand, but Danny Inferno came out from the back and pulled the referee out of the ring as his was counting the pin. Ice Pick yelled out at Inferno, which was enough of a distraction for Judas to roll up Ice Pick from behind, and with a handful of tights held him down for the 1-2-3.An enraged Ice Pick went straight to NWS Commissioner Moore and demanded a rematch. The Commissioner had seen what had happened, but couldn't reverse the referee's decision, and instead announced that Ice Pick and Judas would have a rematch when NWS returned to Manville in January, and this time there would be no outside interference.

In tag-team action, The Nigerian Nightmares (Ma-Fu & Ga-Ga, with Voodoo Princess Sheeta) defeated former NWS Heavyweight Champion "Corrupted" Corey Havoc & Jack Spade. After Havoc chewed out the ring announcer for mentioning the "former champion" part, and referee Sargeant Jimmy Storm whom he felt cost him the belt, the match was on. The Nightmares' size had the advantage early on, but Havoc and Spade were no pushover opponents, and they were able to isolate the smaller Ga-Ga in their corner and worked him over for several minutes. But after Ga-Ga reversed a flying body press by Spade into a powerslam, he tagged in the larger Ma-Fu who cleaned house on both Havoc and Spade. Havoc still fough on, and after the Nightmares missed a double avalanche on Havoc, Havoc worked over Ga-Ga in the corner until referee Storm called for the break. While Havoc was arguing with the referee, The Nighmares charged from opposite corners and caught Havoc between them in a Nigerian Sandwich. The Nightmares then finished off Havoc with a double back splash and the easy 1-2-3. The Nightmares and Sheeta celebrated their victory by dancing in the ring and eventually led the fans in a Belgian Congo Conga line around the ring.

Paco Libro defeated former NWS Cruiserwight Champion Jumping Joey Janela. The two high fliers made for a thrilling battle around the ring and outside it as well. Janela appeared to have the match in hand as he planted Paco with a Michinoku Driver, then went up to the top rope to finish him off with a backflip. But Paco thwarted the attempt by shoving the referee into the ropes, knocking Janela off his top rope perch. Janela grabbed Paco and tried to superplex him off the top, but Paco reversed it and hit a devastating reverse piledriver on Janela off the middle turnbuckle and held him down for the 1-2-3.

In a six-person inter-gender tag-team match, The Jersey Shore Jocks (Mike Dennis & Myke "G.Q." Quest, subbing for the injured Chris D'Andrea) & Divina "Snookie" Fly defeated the team of Total Entertainment ("Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie & "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans) & WSU Spirit Champion Brittney Savage. Chris D'Andrea apologized to the fans that he could not wrestle after injuring his foot playing football for Montclair State, but Commissioner Moore allowed him to name Quest, returning to the ring after recovering from a leg injury, as his replacement. Dennis & Quest & Divina tore into their opposition, and the match was a pitched battle all over the ring, and quite a bit of it on the outside as well. The end came when Divina threw Brittney out of the ring, and reversed a double-team by Smoothie and Oceans into a double diamond-cutter. Dennis and Quest then leveled Smoothie and Oceans with a pair of back suplexes, and covered them both for the 1-2-3.

In the main event, former WWE star Val Venis defeated Danny Inferno, with former WWE & ECW divas Sunny and Dawn Marie on the outside hoping to claim the winner's affections. The match was a hard-hitting pitched battle, with Inferno not intimidated by Val as he worked over Val's lower back and nearly got him to tap out to a Boston Crab submission. Sunny appeared to show favoritism towards Val early on, with Dawn appearing to have more interest in Inferno, but when Inferno tried to make an advance of his own on Dawn, he received a slap from her, followed by one from Sunny. In the end, Val endured Inferno's offense, and after thwarting a superplex attempt by Inferno, flattened him with a Money Shot from the top rope and got the 1-2-3. Val took the microphone and gave "props" to Inferno for an excellent match, and promised that they would meet again in the future. Val then turned to Sunny and Dawn Marie, and as the crowd was chanting "Take them both!", it appeared that was what Val was about to do, but then he reminded them about how they had both sprurned his advances when they were all in WWE, and he was going to go with some "mature" companionship instead, and selected two older ladies from the VFW in the audience, and left arm-in-arm with them both. Sunny and Dawn Marie couldn't believe it, and each blamed the other as they started shoving each other. The two eventually ended up brawling on the mat, and Security had to separate the two. Commissioner Moore announced that the two would settle their differences in the ring in a match on a future show.
