NWS Results From Basking Ridge, NJ 11/14: Former WWE Star Brutus Beefcake Takes On Kevin Matthews (And Someone Does Get A Haircut), World Champion Mercedes Martinez Defends Her Title Against Former TNA Star Anelina Love, Former WWE Star Tito Santana Battles Former ECW Star Danny Doring, Alicia Looks For Revenge Against Her Former Tag-Team Partner Brittney Savage, Plus TNA Star SoCal Val, The Nigerian Nightmares, And More From Another Standout NWS Show

National Wrestling Superstars returned to Basking Ridge, NJ on Saturday night November 14th. After their overly successful debut in August, the folks at St. James Church Gym couldn't wait for NWS to come back, and an excited Saturday night turnout (including former N.J. Lieutenant Governor Donald DiFrancesco and former Chief of Staff Ciro Scalera) saw another standout NWS show, punctuated by two main-event-calibre ladies matches from our sister promotion, and co-hosted by lovely ring announcer Destiny.

In the opening contest, The Funky White Boy defeated "Mr. Entertainment" J.D. Smoothie & Manuel Manny Moore in a battle of high-fliers. Smoothie and Moore did their best to take out Funky early on, but the disco-dancing Funky (who has a long-running rivalry with Smoothie in NWS' Delaware-based affiliate FWF) prevailed. After Moore took out Smoothie with a 6-1-9, Funky leveled Moore with an inverted sidewalk slam and pinned him 1-2-3.

In a battle of big men, "The Happy Hillbilly" Justin Blackwell (making his NWS debut) defeated The Illegal Outer Space Alien. The Hillbilly impressed the fans with his size and strength, and despite a good effort from The Alien, Blackwell planted him into the mat with a thunderous black hold slam for the 1-2-3.

Before the next match, former ECW star "Dastardly" Danny Doring and former WWE developmental protege "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews came out to the ring, along with their manager, Dubai's King Ran-sid Akhbar Idu Stinq. Doring and Matthews talked about how their respective opponents for tonight, former WWE legends Tito Santana and Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, haven't been relevant to wrestling in 20 years, and they were gonna finish them off once and for all tonight.

In a major Grudge Match, Alicia won by countout over Women's Spirit Champion Brittney Savage. This was Alicia's first opportunity for revenge against her former tag-team partner since Brittney turned on her, and Brittney's Spirit Championship was on the line to boot. The former champ appeared ready to make the most of this opportunity, and Brittney appeared ready to do anything to avoid Alicia's vengeful wrath. Brittney even claimed a knee injury after falling outside the ring, but when Alicia showed good sportsmanship by trying to help Alicia to the back for medical attention, Brittney leveled Alicia, showing she had been faking it the whole time. The two ladies battled all over the ring and outside as well, but Alicia's experience and power began to dominate, and Brittney chose to bail out of the ring, letting herself get counted out in order to avoid losing the Spirit Championship, As the audience boo'ed her heartily, NWS Commissioner Gino Moore (who had been granted Women's Commissioner authority that night by management), decreed that Alicia would get a rematch against Brittney the following Saturday night in Ridgefield Park, NJ, with the Spirit Championship on the line once again, and the match would be No Countouts.

The Nigerian Nightmares (with manager "Voodoo Princess" Sheeta) squashed the team of "The White Urkel" B. Fehrm & Nikko The Monkey Man. This was indeed hardly a wrestling match, as the 800+ pound undefeated Nightmares unmercifully crushed their opponents for nearly ten minutes before flattening Nikko with a Nigerian Leg Roll and pinning him 1-2-3.

Former WWE Intercontinental & Tag-Team Champion and Hall of Famer "El Matador" Tito Santana (with guest manager The Bernardsville Hardware Hunk) won by submission over former ECW Tag-Team Champion "Dastardly" Danny Doring (with manager King Ran-sid Akhbar Idu Stinq & bodyguard former WWE developmental protege "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews). Santana insisted that this was not a one-on-two match and demanded that Matthews leave ringside, and Commissioner Moore agreed and ordered Matthews to the back. The two veteran TV stars traded holds back and forth in a true "old school" match, but after Doring missed a flying legdrop off the top rope, Santana locked on a textbook Figure-Four Leglock and Doring immediately tapped out. Before Santana could do much celebrating, Kevin Matthews and The Nigerian Nightmares hit the ring and commenced a four-on-one attack on Santana, with Matthews putting Santana in the Matthews-Lock, until former WWE superstar Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake ran out from the back, hedge clippers in hand, and chased the attackers away. Santana got on the microphone and demanded a one-on-one match with Kevin Matthews tonight. Commissioner Moore said that Matthews was already booked to face Brutus Beefcake tonight, but next month in Flemington, Santana would indeed get his wish as he would be facing Matthews that night.

The Title-for-Title "Loser Gets Put Through A Door" Match between NWS Junior Heavywight Champion "The Love Machine" Nicky Oceans vs. NWS Jersey Shore Champion "G.Q." Myke Quest" was declared a draw. Oceans and Quest had been battling for months, with no winner, and this match was made as an attempt to settle the score once and for all. The two commenced an all-out brawl inside and outside the ring, and it wasn't long before one wooden door was brought into the ring, followed by another, and both men used them as weapons but neither man was able to crack their opponent through it. The critical moment came when Oceans brought a steel chair into the ring and hurled it at Quest, only to have Quest duck and the chair strike referee S.P. Anderson, knocking him out cold. Taking advantage of no referee, Kevin Matthews ran into the ring and full-nelson slammed Quest into one of the doors. It looked as if Oceans would prevail, but before the referee awoke again, Tito Santana ran into the ring and powerslammed Oceans through the other wooden door (the second door was apparently more sturdy, as it took three powerslams by Santana to smash Oceans through the door). The referee finally awoke as Santana cleared out of the ring, saw both men laying on the mat smashed through the wooden doors, and not knowing what else to do, declared the match a no-contest, thus both retained their titles.

NWS introduced TNA star SoCal Val as the guest announcer for the next match.

Women's World Champion "The Latina Sensation" Mercedes Martinez retained her title against former TNA star Angelina Love. The former leader of the Beautiful People took the fight to Mercedes, staying toe-to-toe with Mercedes, but the champion eventually battled back and prevailed, planting Angelina with a brainbuster suplex and pinning her 1-2-3 to retain her title.

In the main event "Loser Gets A Haircut" Match, former WWE Tag-Team Champion Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake (with guest manager The Bernardsville Hardware Hunk) won by submission over former WWE developmental protege "Too Cocky" Kevin Matthews (with manager King Ran-sid Akhbar Idu Stinq). Matthews threatened to bail out and not wrestle after the crowd taunted him, but Commissioner Moore chased him back to the ring. Beefcake and Matthews tore into each other, and King Stinq interfered from the outside. But after Matthews missed a splash from the outside and Beefcake began to dominate, King Stinq seized Matthews from the outside and held him against the ropes for Matthews to finish off, but Beefcake ducked and Matthews took out his manager instead. Beefcake then locked Matthews in a sleeper hold, and the referee counted Matthews unconscious and awarded the match to Beefcake. But before Beefcake could give Matthews his promised haircut, King Stinq jumped into the ring and tried to attack Beefcake. Beefcake then locked King Stinq in a sleeper hold and rendered him unconscious, and then he and The Bernardsville Hardware Hunk cut the King's hair as the crowd cheered with delight.

NWS returns to action in the tri-state area with a double-shot weekend November 20th in Holmdel, NJ and November 21st in Ridgefield Park, NJ, featuring former WWE star the Native American Warrior Tatanka.
