National Wrestling Superstars kicked off 2010 with a spectacular event at the Manville VFW Hall on Friday night, January 29th with an event that featured everything a wrestling fan could hope for including TV legends, stars and even coffins. Before the start of the event, Danny Demanto came out with Kevin Matthews as his personal body guard. Matthews did a shoot on Mr. Anderson (aka former WWE star Ken Kennedy). Danny, who did not have an opponent for the evening told Commissioner Gino Moore that he is the future of NWS and challenged anyone on the NWS payroll with a wrestling background to a match. He challenged Commissioner Moore, the referee and finally picked out Sonny Boy Gulano, who was helping with security as his opponent. Danny tells him If you lose, you go back to being a security guard for the night. Kid agrees. For the 1st 3 minutes Danny was all over Sonny Boy but surprisingly, the young upstart found his groove and threw 4 forearms at Danny, causing his mouth to fire up and hit him with a vicious piledriver for the finish. Both Danny and Kevin gloated all the way back to the locker room Match #2 was a 3 Way High Flyers Showdown with 3 of the best cruiserweights representing 3 different companies in one match. 1st out, representing Ring of Honor, making his NWS debut, was Alex Payne, 2nd, representing Chikara Wrestling, was the popular Frightmare and 3rd, representing the NWS and FwF, it was Mr. Entertainment J.D. Smoothie. Smoothie convinced Payne to come over to his side and they double team Frightmare. Eventually they both eliminate him. Smoothie then went to high flyer Payne and turned on him for the win Match # 3 was a Big Man Tag Team Attraction pitting Hasheem “Chemical” Ali and Jack Space against Indian Warrior Draven and Richie “Ice Pick” Lowinski. The battled all over the ring, ignoring the referee. The finish saw All 4 men battle outside. Spade and Ali took out Draven with gimmick and then double teamed Ice Pick with gimmick, threw him back down for double pin. Commissioner Gino Moore, who was also running the sound board stood up and said “I saw what just happened here and I don’t like it one iota. So tell you what I’m going to do. Next itme back here, Friday night, May 7th, it’s a Manville Street Fight, Falls Count Anywhere Around The Ring and Weapons Are Allowed. I am going to break the NWS Family Rules and tell the fans to bring weapons for the wrestlers. Sticks, Pans, Street Signs…Anything They Want. It’s Going To Be A WAR!! Match #4 started off with ring announcer Dapper Johnny Falco giving the usual warning telling parents and children they have about 60 seconds to protect themselves from the most awesome tag team ever to come into pro wrestling, the Nigerian Nightmares. Then he introduced The Patriot and asked Patriot…do you have a partner as of yet and if so, let me know so I may bring him or her out. Patriot whispered in Dapper’s ear. Dapper says OK…here we go. “Ladies & Gents, please welcome the Patriot’s hand picked partner tonight, you saw him out here earlier this evening, another masked wrestler. Stand and welcome back Frightmare!”. Bout saw lots of Frightmare high spots off Patriot/Big Body Slams. Plenty of false finishes. When it looks like Patriot and Frightmare were about to win, Demanto and Matthews run to the ring and the referee had no choice but to declare the match a no contest. In the meantime, the Nightmares double-teamed The Patriot. Demanto and Matthews double team Frightmare. Matthews went to work on mask as Danny held him up. Anderson/Kennedy out for the save. Kennedy went after Matthews. Matthews taunted the main event but told the crowd the match would happen when he was ready and not until then. Match #5was part one of the double main event. Out first was Too Cocky Kevin Matthews accompanied to ringside by Danny Demanto. Then, his opponent. Ken Anderson came to the ring and giving the NWS credit, had a microphone ready to drop from the ceiling. As Anderson grabbed the mic, the crowed played right into him calling out the name “Kennedy”, but Anderson said no, that name would be gimmick infringement so he opened up to Anderson…Anderson. Lots of good action on both wrestlers part and there was one spot where Anderson had Matthews in a submission hold and when Matthews refused to submit, called for the microphone and started singing a Bon Jovi song and had Matthews scream the yelling parts into the mic. Then, when it went back to the action, Matthews took over and looked like he might actually defeat the former WWE and current TNA star, but the referee got in the way and was knocked to the canvas by Anderson. Matthews continued the assault and had Anderson down for a 7 or 8 count with no referee. Then, he went to try to help the referee but would up being caught by Anderson and the matched turned around just as the referee came too and made the 3 count. After the match, Demanto attacked Anderson and told him “you may have cheated your way tonight, but tomorrow night in Brick, it’s a different story. Match # 6 was part two of the double main event…a first time ever Last Man Standing Coffin, Table and Doors Match featuring 4 of the top junior heavyweights on the east coast. First out was one half of the NWS Tag Team Champions Corvis Fear, next was a J-Cup Runner Up from South Philadelphia Devon Moore, then the current Junior Heavyweight champion, The Love Machine Nicky Oceans was introduced followed by last years J-Cup Winner and current NWS Jersey Shore Champion Myke “G.Q.” Quest Although only January, this match ranks as one of the most entertaining of all times with all 4 going for the win. After around 8 minutes Corvis Fear was put through a door by Devon Moore, then at about 12 minutes, Oceans put Moore through a table leaving Oceans and Quest to battle it out. After another 10 minutes or so, Quest managed to get Oceans into the coffin and was carried out by 4 druids Keep up to date with all NWS dates and action at www.nwswrestling.com
