3X-iversary July 18, 2008 Des Moines, IA by Tim Clay Quick Results: Kraig Keesaman def. Arik Cannon Tyler Cook def. Supacito Kid Zach Thompson def. Ryan Slade Northstar Express def. Rockwell & Kwong, Krotch & McDowell, Bash & Sailer Jimmy Rockwell def. Casanova, Masterson, Matthews, Wagner, Thompson, Sydal, Hollister, Slade, & Dezire Jeremy Wyatt def. AJ Smooth Devin Carter def. Mark Sterling 1. Singles Match: “Krow” Kraig Keesaman vs. “Anarchist” Arik Cannon The night kicked off with a match that most companies would consider a main event; “Krow” Kraig Keesaman vs. “Anarchist” Arik Cannon. The crowd was hot for Cannon and greeted him with a chant to start things off before Cannon and Keesaman tied up. They started off slow, pacing it with some very nice back and forth mat wrestling, trying to work over and wear the other man down but no one man taking any real advantage. However, Keesaman seized momentum and began attacking Cannon’s face and eye with vicious rope burns, rakes, and knees to the face. Cannon brought it back to Keesaman with some hellacious chops. Keesaman was able to regain control with some Polish hammers before throwing Cannon to the corner and chopping him down like a lumberjack. Keesaman went for an impressive-looking elbow drop from the top rope, but Cannon scouted it well and rolled away. Cannon takes control with a complex swinging neckbreaker for a near fall. After some teasing reversals, Cannon nailed a BRAINBUSTAAAH that only garnered a two count. After missing a step up enziguri, Keesaman stole the victory from Cannon with a vicious snapmare DDT. Cannon was respected with a big ovation from the crowd when Keesaman left. Winner: Kraig Keesaman via pinfall 2. Singles Match: Supacito Kid vs. Tyler Cook The next bout saw the debut of Supacito Kid in action against Tyler Cook. Despite the fact that Supacito looked to be half the size of Cook, it was sure to be a good match. And it certainly was, starting off with numerous exchanges that lead to standstills. The crowd applauded every time Cook and Supacito would reverse and out maneuver each other. Supacito went off the ropes at Cook, but got caught with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker that finally gave a decisive lead in momentum to Cook. Tyler clobbered Supacito with an elbow for a two count, but then Supacito was able to take control with his speed. Tyler retreated to the outside, but was greeted with a flip off the turnbuckle from Supacito, crashing in the entryway, eliciting a huge reaction from the fans. When the two finally got back into the ring, they took each other back down with a double clothesline. When the two finally got up, there was a great “boo” “yeah” exchange that was wasted by the crowd. Then there came an explosive fury of action punctuated with a 619 on Cook followed with a crossbody, but Cook reversed it and put Supacito away with a fisherman suplex. After the match the two celebrated the victory, raising each other’s arm in victory. Winner: Tyler Cook via pinfall Scott Casper came out next to a big boo from the crowd. He responded by berating fans for wearing such casual attire at 3XWrestling’s third anniversary. Casper proceeded to bring out the Gentlemen’s Club and predict Sterling’s victory tonight. It was promised that “Delicious” Devin Carter would no longer be delicious by the end of the night, but rotten. Rotten and defeated. Sterling grabbed the microphone and attacked the crowd and Carter, promising that by the end of the night whether it be via Gentlemen’s Stretch or Crossface Carter would tap out tonight. 3. Flag Match: “Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade w/Aaron Masterson vs. America’s “Unbreakable” Zach Thompson The crowd was then treated with the first ever 3XW Flag match, pitting the “Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade against America’s “Unbreakable” Zach Thompson. Ryan Slade was looking flamboyant and fabulous in his red and white boas and accompanied by a Canadia top hat wearing Aaron Masterson. Slade hit the ring and explained the rules of the match as such: The first man to grab his respective flag wins the match. Before he could vocally abuse the crowd any further, “Unbreakable” Zach Thompson entered, proudly waving the American flag to the delight of the crowd. Slade and Masterson double teamed Zach, but Zach threw Masterson out and brought it to Slade. Zach dominated the match early on, using explosive moves to throw off Slade’s offense. Slade and Masterson retreated to the entry way, only to be greeted with a flip from the turnbuckle. The crowd roared with USA chants as the three brawled at ringside. There was some intense back and forth action back inside the ring, Zach backflipping out of a Dragon Sleeper, Slade with a three quarters tornado DDT off the ropes, superplexes and more. Slade took control and every time he struck Zach he sang a bit of “O Canada.” He has a horrendous singing voice, I’d like to add. By this point, Masterson kept trying to help Slade, but Zach would reverse whatever double team and the Newer Era would end up taking themselves out. The end came with a dynamite back hurracanrana on Slade before scrambling to the turnbuckle and grabbing the American flag for the win. Zach proudly waved the flag as the Newer Era retreated to the back. Winner: Zach Thompson 4. Fatal Fourway Tag Match - Tag Team Championship: “Maddog” McDowell & Krotch vs. Rock Eye for the Asian Guy vs. Nate Bash & Ben Sailer vs. Northstar Express (c) The first half of the night’s double main event followed; the four way tag match for the 3XWrestling Tag Team Championship. The rules were simple, two men in the ring at all times, any team could be tagged in. “Maddog” McDowell and Krotch were accompanied by Krotch’s sister down to the ring, then followed by “Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell and “The Asian Sensation” Ricky Kwong. I believe they were announced as “Rock Eye for the Asian Guy.” Northstar Express came out next, hoisting their championship belts and booing the crowd. Cruz was armed with a spray bottle and was spraying liberally. Corbin cut a promo, telling all how this is a deliberate set up to steal their belts away from them. During the promo Corbin complimented my counting skills to which I will be ever grateful. President Pierce promised a surprise tag team for this match, and 3XW fans were greeted to the returning team of Nate Bash and Ben Sailer! Sailer and Bash kicked things off with explosive action before finally being forced to the apron. People were constantly tagging in and out at the start of this match, everyone making an appearance. One nice move saw a leg drop from Krotch, a leg drop from McDowell, the McDowell lifting Krotch up and delivering two leg drops at the same time. At this point Jimmy Rockwell took the beating of the evening. It started with Rockwell and Corbin going at it, then some shenanigry by Cruz saw underhanded moves on Corbin’s part. Then Sailer and Jimmy, then Bash and Jimmy, then Sailer and Jimmy again. Rockwell was getting worn down and tired out as he was the target of every tag team. Sailer and Bash were explosive, NSE were underhanded and hilarious, McDowell was intense, Jimmy was dead. Cruz went for a roll up of sorts, but Jimmy was able to escape and tag in Bash. Bash flew in with explosive kicks and jabs against the Northstar Express. However, Corbin was able to take control and work Bash over before making a patented foot tag to Cruz. McDowell and Krotch offered Bash help, calling for him to make the tag. Corbin or Cruz would let Bash crawl oh so close, then drag him away. Suddenly Bash nailed a desperate kick on Cruz, slowly dragged himself to the corner, then dove and tagged in Sailer. Sailer flew in and destroyed the NSE with intense belly-to-belly slams and a falcon arrow. McDowell entered and then all hell broke loose. People broke up pins, no one knew who the legal man was, it was anarchy. Sailer/Bash took down Rock Eye for the Asian Guy and were going for moves off the top rope, but NSE threw them to ringside and went to pin Rockwell and Kwong simultaneously, but were rolled up. Jimmy was kicked to ringside, and as the ref was distracted by the action, Kwong got hit with a low blow and was pinned when the ref turned around. Northstar Express once again showed their dominance in the 3XW Tag Division. Winner: The Northstar Express (c) via pinfall 5. Gauntlet Match - 3XW Cruiserweight Championship: Casanova (c) vs. Cruiserweight Division Casanova started it off against Aaron Masterson-Slade and the two went toe to toe. Nova hit an around-the-world head bash, slamming Masterson’s face against each of the four turnbuckles, then slapping on a sleeper for the win. Des Moines’ own Hunter Matthews came out next and took it to Nova with see-saw back and forth technical action. The nastiest spot of the night happened when Matthews had Nova suspended on the middle rope by his legs, leapt up and hit a double-footed stomp to his chest, driving Nova into the mat with sickening impact. Matthews was too disoriented to cover quickly enough and only garnered a two count. Nova was thrown from the ring after some chop trading, and the ref turned to count him out. With the ref distracted, Knight Wagner was able to come in and nail Matthews with a low blow. Nova and the ref didn’t see anything, so a confused Nova pinned Matthews for the win. Knight Wagner then hit the ring and dominated Nova with explosive moves, despite the “X-Pac” and “Sean Waltman” catcalls from the crowd. Matthews returned to the ring and chopped Nova on the chest. Due to the interference, Wagner was disqualified. Best DQ ever. Zach Thompson came out next and impressed the crowd with his arsenal. Zach with a huge kick to the temple, only a two count. Nova with a Sambo slam, only for a two count. Zach with another big kick into a standing moonsault. Nova locks in sleeper, Zach tries to break free, but gets slammed down to the mat. The action was intense, back and forth, and insanely balanced. Nova went for a move, but Zach hit a surprise roll up and eliminated Nova! Nova was eliminated by Zach! No matter who won now, we were going to crown a new 3XW Cruiserweight Champion! Mike Sydal hit the ring next and traded blows with Zach. Sydal hit a near picture-perfect standing moonsault, obviously sharing traits of his brother Evan Bourne in ECW. Before Sydal could mount any real momentum, Zach took him out with a package pildriver. Shane Hollister came in next and the two went back and forth. Headlock countered into a side suplex on Zach, then the favor returned on Hollister. Hollister was able to take Zach down and go to the corner. Hollister paused too long to shout at a fan, and was rolled up after missing a Frog Splash for two. Hollister came back and was able to counter a kick into an impaler for two. Zach hit a package falcon arrow to eliminate Hollister. Ryan Slade came out next and hit a Canadian Destroyer on the groggy Zach then walked out, eliminating himself. Brady A. Dezire ran out and covered Zach, thus ending the gauntlet. Dezire celebrated his victory, ignoring President Skylar Pierce’s shouts. President Pierce announced there was one final combatant in the gauntlet. “Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell came out to the crowd’s delight and took on Dezire. The two went back and forth, Dezire never able to make any real offense before being countered by Rockwell. It was a losing effort, and despite everything Dezire threw at Rockwell, he lost the match in a roll up. The crowd cheered for the new 3XW Cruiserweight Champion, “Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell. Winner: "Rockstar" Jimmy Rockwell (c) by pinfall 6. Singles Match: AJ Smooth vs. "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt AJ Smooth made his return to 3XW in competition against “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt. Smooth worked the crowd beautifully, antagonizing them like none other. Smooth slapped Wyatt, then got his face rocked with an even bigger slap from Wyatt. The two went at it with electric intensity, showcasing what superb athletic abilities they possessed. Wyatt threw Smooth to the outside, then ran and leapt over the top rope at him ala Mike Awesome or The Undertaker. As they reentered the ring, Wyatt had his legs straddled over the middle rope, and Smooth took advantage, kicking the rope up in between the legs. Wyatt went down and Smooth was in control. But then Wyatt brought it back with a missile dropkick from the top rope. Smooth reversed an Irish whip into a front lung blower for a two count. Smooth crashed and burned off the top rope, and Wyatt capitalized with an underhook sit out facebuster for two. After hitting his finishing maneuver, Wyatt covered Smooth for the win. Winner: "The Rebel" Jeremy Wyatt via pinfall 7. Main Event - Title for Title Match 3XW Heavyweight Championship& 3XW Pure Wrestling Championship: "Delicious" Devin Carter(c) vs. Mark Sterling (c) The fans were treated next with the night’s main event. It was title versus title, 3XW Heavyweight Champion versus 3XW Pure Champion, the people’s “Delicious” Devin Carter versus the vile Mark Sterling. Sterling came out, angry as always, and screaming at little girls in the crowd, what a man. “Delicious” Devin Carter came out to the biggest cheer of the night. He entered the ring and worked the crowd, getting a “Prozac” chant started. Sterling sat in the corner and covered his ears as the fans chanted. Carter continued his mind games with Sterling, and was called a fatty in response. The two started off as any proper main event should, heated confrontations and tie ups, followed by a break. The two men would circle and try to figure out what they needed to do to beat the other, then go at it for a second and break again. After a momentous technical exchange, Sterling retreated to the outside to be comforted by Todd as he hurled insults at Carter. The two came in and Carter was in control of Sterling, but a stiff dropkick changed that. Sterling stole Carter’s discarded headband and dominated Carter. Carter was put in a camel clutch and had his mouth pulled into smiles and frowns by Sterling. After more back and forth Sterling had Carter suspended on the apron and went to town on him. The two reentered the ring and Carter came back with some stiff punches and a dropkick followed up by a side effect. Carter calls for his headband, but Todd distracts the ref resulting in a low blow from Sterling for two. A frustrated Sterling locked in the Gentlemen’s Stretch, but Carter was able to drag himself to the ropes. Sterling called for the belt, but the ref ripped it from his hands, and after a misdirection, Sterling squashed Carter and the ref into the corner. Sterling picked the belt back up and went after Carter, but Carter ducked and hit the Tasty Treat! Carter pinned, and Senior Referee Steve Biley ran down for a late two count. Carter locked in a Boston crab, only to have Todd drag Sterling to the ropes. Biley was having no more of Todd’s shenanigans and ejected him from the arena. Carter went for a superplex, but Sterling threw Carter away and hit a crossbody followed up with a crossface on Carter. Carter refused to tap, so Sterling went for a Boston crab, but Carter reversed it into a roll up for the three count! Carter won the match! An irate Sterling retreated to the back, beside himself in disbelief, as Carter rose to his feet. KL Snow announced to the crowd the crowning of a NEW 3XW Pure Wrestling Champion and still reining 3XW World Champion, “Delicious” Devin Carter! The backstage came out and celebrated with Carter as the show came to an end, a suitable ending for 3XW’s three year anniversary. Winner and NEW 3XW Heavyweight Champion & Pure Wreslting Champion: “Delicious” Devin Carter via pinfall
