(Editor's Note: Aside from a basic spell check these results are being provided in their original form. They were saved from the original IWA mailing list.) September 4th, 1997 By: Jim Fannin The show started with a moment of silence for Princess Di. Two seconds into the moment of silence, Dennis Corolluzzo got on the mic and started to bad mouth Di and the IWA and a tremendous night of action was on the way. I was attacked three times by someone in the NWA contingent that I don't know trying to take away my "Corolluzzo humps cows" sign. When they succeeded, I had to pull out the "NWA sucks and Corolluzzo swallows" sign. It was alot of fun already and the night had just began. Prazak came out and loved Ben's "Prazak 12 & Under" sign. Reckless Youth defeated American Kickboxer in a 4 star match to become the new IWA lightweight champ to go along with his NWA North American title. Kickboxer hit a triple jump somersault plancha to the floor and a triple jump moonsault. He also used the NWA ref as a springboard to do a splash onto the floor. Youth hit with the Michinouku Driver (brainbuster one), leaping DDT, and won with a great frog splash. This was one of the best matches I have seen this year. Kickboxer hit all of his spots and Reckless Youth lived up to his hype (first time I have been able to see him in action). Mad Man Pondo defeated Ox Harley in a make a wish match. If Ox had won, the Ox/Pondo team would be split up for good but if Pondo won he wanted Ox to kiss his butt. This match was a gory bloodfest. Pondo bled worse than anyone I have seen. Blood was gushing out of his forehead. They hit each other with wiffle ball bats covered in nails, a boombox, a frying pan, and a stop sign. Pondo won, forgot how, and Ox had to kiss his butt. Disgusting to say the least. Ox then attacked Pondo and there is a rematch next week. If Ox wins, the team is over and if Pondo wins, Ox has to kiss his butt smack dab in the middle not on the cheek. Great match but I could have done without the sickening sight at the end. Blaze defeated Salvatore Sincere in a great match. Blaze hit a rana and a bulldog off the second rope. Sincere blasted him repeatedly in front of us with a chair. They brawled around the building and invaded the concession stand. They along with a few fans came back covered in mustard. Sal hit an impressive tigerbomb and a piledriver but was pinned with a rollup while showboating to the fans. The NWA attacked Blaze after the match and Tracy Smothers came out to make the save in what I have to say is the most disappointing face turn in history. No one can work the crowd in Louisville as a heel better than Tracy. The Misfits won the IWA tag titles to go along with their NWA US tag titles from the War Machines. In one of the few lackluster matches of the night, the Misfits win the titles. A little blood and no big spots except for brawl around the building and a suplex on the floor. The War Machines aren't very good, they can just brawl so this is probably why match wasn't great.
Rico and Ace Madison (who returned tonight) attack Prazak. Beautiful moment :-) Pitbull 2 destroyed some yokel named JR Ryder. Pitbull had to carry the match and this made it another lackluster match compared to the first three. Pitbull did Cactus' suicidal clothesline, a suplex on the floor following it, press slam onto a chair, and won with the superbomb. Good but not great match. Ryder had to much offense for not being able to do anything. 2 and a half stars. Tower of Doom defeated Twiggy Ramirez. This was a great match surprisingly. Tower took some great moves from Twiggy. Twiggy hit with a 2nd rope DDT, the "Perfect" necksnap, baseball slide into a chair on the outside, and a Bulldog onto two chairs set up in the ring. Tower won after blocking the second attempted Bulldog. He climbed up onto the two chairs and Powerbombed Twiggy. One chair collapsed under the weight. Tower also hit the tilt a whirl slam, the pump handle slam, and used some cookie sheets. Sherri Martel retained the NWA Women's title in the Dog Collar Match vs. Debbie Combs. There was alot of bs before the match started with Debbie Combs stalling to avoid putting on the chain. The match went all over the arena and into the parking lot. Debbie Combs slammed Sherri face first into Rico's birthday cake up on the stage. Sherri bled again. End comes via dq as Luna Vachon runs out and helps Debbie Combs attack Sherri. Ian comes out to save Sherri and Luna says that she was upset that Ian didn't ask her to work for him. With this comes the next match immediately. Ian Rotten vs. mystery opponent. While Ian is talking to Luna, Vampire Warrior comes out from behind and attacks Ian with a chair. This is a huge brawl all over the arena. The move of the night comes when Ian picks Vampire up for what looked like a curtain call of Goldust. Instead of dropping straight down, Ian turned it into a brainbuster that was just vicious. Ian is beaten to a bloody mess and is pinned by Warrior but I forgot what the finisher was. The NWA comes out and attacks Ian until Pit 2 and Tracy make the save. Ian then helps put Tracy over as a face by thanking him and telling him that everyone will be behind him.
Bull Pain retains the IWA title vs. Tracy Smothers. Very good match. The crowd wasn't into a frenzy until Corolluzzo and Super Nova's brother Donnie B came out. The first ref is knocked out when Bull pulls him in front of a splash into the corner attempt by Tracy. The second ref comes out and is run over and knocked to the floor with when Bull irish whipped Tracy into him or vice versa, can't remember. The NWA ref slowly walks out to the ring and stops to shake hands with Dennis all the while Tracy has Bull pinned following a back elbow off the top rope. Bull regains control later and wins with a reverse Pain Killer (bulldog instead of DDT with the opponent's legs draped over the top rope) and a fast count. Tremendous heat in the building.
