(Editor's Note: Aside from a basic spell check these results are being provided in their original form. They were saved from the original IWA mailing list.) November 18th, 1997 By: Jim Fannin The show started with Jim Cornette's personal assistant Ken Bolen coming to ringside handing out xeroxed copies of autographed James E. Cornette photos. Bolen then did excellent mic work running down everyone in the building and the Louisville Cardinals 1-10 football team. The first match was the debuting Pyscho Kid vs. American Kickboxer. It took these two combatants a few minutes to get used to each other but then the match picked up and turned out to be very good. Pyscho hit a tope to the floor to start the high impact moves but missed a Lionsault when the action returned to the ring. Kickboxer picked up Pyscho after the miss and delivered a DDT. Kickboxer then executed a springboard legdrop on the fallen Pyscho Kid. The action once again spilled to the floor and Kickboxer hit an Asai Moonsault into the first row and then took a seat to catch his breath for a moment. Kickboxer rolled Kid back into the ring and he slingshotted himself over the top rope and hit a legdrop on Kid. Pyscho regained control of the match and hit a top rope hurracanrana and followed up by missing the corkscrew splash. Kickboxer picked up Pyscho and hit a devastating brainbuster and then hit his spinning senton from the top rope for the pin. The second match saw Cash Flo and Shark Boy put on a very good match especially considering the last half of the match was fought while the ring was broken. Cash Flo started the match with a belly to back suplex and tossed Shark Boy to the floor. Cash Flo picked up a chair but SharkBoy was able to hit a dropkick into the chair knocking Cash to the ground. Cash Flo was rolled back into the ring and when Shark Boy tried entering the ring, Cash yanked up on the ropes and crotched Shark Boy. Cash whips Shark Boy into the ropes so hard that the cable under the ring snaps and the ropes were broken. The action continued as the ring crew climbed under the ring and tried to fix the problem. Cash picked Shark Boy up for a powerbomb but first he bounced him off the top rope for a springboard powerbomb. The ropes were still to loose and the wrestlers continued to wait for the crew to fix the ring. Cash somehow managed to climb up to the top rope and hit a Savage Elbow Drop but Shark Boy kicked out at two. The ring still wasn't fixed but Cash struggled to the top again for the elbow but this time he missed. Shark Boy climbed up top for his finisher the top rope dropkick but Cash kicked out. Cash got a chair and hit Shark Boy and then he went back up top. Shark Boy was three quarters of the way on the other side of the ring and Cash Flo was still able to connect with the Alabama Jam legdrop for the pin. There was then a short (10 minutes) intermission for the ring crew to be able to fix the ring without the wrestlers using the ropes. The third match was the ladder match for the held up heavyweight title between Bull Pain and Paul Diamond. This was a great match as the two brawled and wrestled and used the ladder as a weapon. Several times a wrestler would be on the ladder ready to get the belt only to have his opponent knock him down or knock over the ladder. At the crucial moment of the match, Diamond tied up Bull in the tree of woe position and placed the ladder in front of Bull's face. Diamond then dropkicked the ladder into Bull. Diamond picked up the ladder but the ref was knocked out by the end of the ladder when it struck him in the jaw. Bull DDTd Diamond and climbed up the ladder. Diamond pulled Bull off the top of the ladder and Bull was knocked out when his head hit one of the steps of the ladder. Diamond climbed up the ladder and grabbed the belt but the ref was still down. Steven Dunn came from the back and hit Diamond over the head with a piece of drywall. Diamond fell right next to Bull and both wrestlers were knocked out and both had their hands on the belt. The ref woke up and saw both wrestlers knocked out with the belt and declared the match a draw once again. Both wrestlers came too and argued over who really one. Les Thatcher came out and ruled the belt still held up and that on December 2nd it would be a 2 out of 3 falls match with the stipulations pulled out of a box to determine a winner and a champion. The next match was the first blood encounter between Doug Gilbert and Billy Jo Travis. Dougie does awesome work on the mic before the match to get the crowd as hot as possible. They brawled all over the building and then went outside. They worked their way around the building and started running each other into the garage door. During the fracas, the drunk behind me had proceeded to dump some of his beer on me for the third time of the night but once again I'll get back to this later. The wrestlers return to the building and Dougie hits Billy Jo with a trash can. Then they start throwing wild punches and the ref is knocked down once again. Dougie gets a taped up piece of metal that he brought out with him and carves up Billy Jo with it. Unfortunately for Dougie, he got some of Billy Jo's blood on his forehead in the process. Dougie goes and revives the ref who sees the blood on his forehead and awards the match to Billy Jo. The next match was the falls count anywhere grudge match between Flash Flanigan and Tracy Smothers. Flash came out and said how he was going to win the WWF lightheavyweight title tournament and how he has movie deals from down south (his manager Bolen was wearing an NWO tshirt) but Flash said that they were adult movie deals!!! After Flash finished working the crowd into a frenzy the match was underway. This match was wild and all over the place. Tracy hiptossed Flash into the first row of chairs and threw a beer on him. The action returned to the ring and Tracy hit a Diamond Cutter. Flash regained control and hit a spinning bulldog from the second rope. Bolen started to work over Tracy in the corner with his tennis racket. Flash connected with the Buff Blockbuster for a two count. Tracy took back the momentum and hit his jawjacker back elbow from the top rope. Tracy hit his cradle slam for yet another two count and Flash's friends started to come out to help but all of Tracy's friends came out to prevent the interference. That started a huge brawl involving everyone in the building as Tracy and Flash were fighting over by the back door. Wolfie D of PG-13 came busting in the back door and grabbed Flash and threw him in the ring. Wolfie gave Flash a great spinning splitleg powerbomb allowing Tracy to get the pin. Wolfie and Flash work the mic talking about their feud in MCW and how Wolfie followed him here to get revenge. What a finish to the match as Wolfie D was a great surprise for the fans. Match six started when Wolfie challenged anybody to a match in the building. J.T. Atlas came out and made his IWA debut accepting Wolfie's challenge. Wolfie started the match by giving Atlas three running clotheslines and knocking him over the top rope to the floor. Wolfie flipped over the top rope into a plancha on Atlas. Atlas was able to gain the upperhand once the action returned to the ring with a superplex, a Rude Awakening, and a spin kick in the corner. Atlas was impressive and followed up with a top rope dropkick to the back on Wolfie and he also connected with a top rope hurracanrana. Wolfie quickly caught Atlas in his spinning split leg powerbomb and got the win but Flash attacked from behind hitting Wolfie with a piledriver and a tigerbomb. This melee causes another brawl involving everyone and Ian and Wolfie challenge Dunn and Flash to a Double Dog Collar match on December 2nd.
The seventh match was another chapter in the feud between Ox Harley and Mad Man Pondo. Debbie Combs accompanied Ox to the ring to gain revenge on Pondo for their month long feud. This saw the first blood of the night other than Billy Jo's small cut in the first blood match. These two brawled around ringside and used the usual weapons mainly chairs and Pondo's stop sign. Ox hit a legdrop and a powerslam to gain control of the match but Pondo reversed the momentum with a sidewalk slam. Ox regained control and received some help from Combs with an abdominal stretch followed by a powerbomb. Ox climbed up top for his moonsault but he missed allowing Pondo to get his stop sign and inflict some damage to Ox. Pondo then hit a rocker dropper but Combs interfered allowing Ox to recover and hit a piledriver. Combs gave Ox three chairs to set up his chair bridge and he superplexed Pondo thru the bridge for the pin. Pondo challenged Ox to another loser leaves for 30 days match for Thanksgiving night and Debbie Combs will not be there for the match. The last match was the lumberjack with straps match between Ian and Steven Dunn. Ian brought out a new ref to replace Eric Moore for the match seeing how Moore has missed alot of chicanery in the last few weeks and causing Ian to lose. Bull was having a little too much fun with his strap as he let Rico, the ring announcer, and Dunn have it with the strap. The drunk behind threw more beer on me and my friends at this point. We asked him to stop and he refused. As Les was holding me and pulling me back the drunk slugged me in the face and I was asked to leave the building as was the drunk. The security guards let me back in once they got rid of the troublemakers and when I returned to ringside, Ian was bloody and Dunn seemed to be in firm control of the match. A fight breaks out amongst the lumberjacks and the ref is distracted. Bull climbs to the top and hits Ian in the back of the head with Ian's NWA US Tag title belt opening up a huge cut on the back of Ian's head. Paul Diamond jumps into the ring and DDTs Dunn and places Ian on top. The ref turns around and counts the pin. The heels attack Ian after the match but the faces make the save. Overall a great card. My friend was down from Chicago and absolutely loved the show. I wish I could have seen the entire main event but there isn't much that can be done about that now. I will not be able to attend the Thanksgiving night card since I will be going back to Chicago for the holidays but I will return with a report for the December 2nd card.
